Hello,
My name is Roy, and I live in Mt. Zion. I was wondering where you all were from and possibly hooking up to do some panning. I joined the GPAA last july, got my pan, and hit the sand pile we have from a local creek to practice. I did find some very small "specks", but nothing as nice as what are in the pics on here. I have not been out to the local creeks or anything because I have no clue where to go, BUT I do have a bit of knowledge on where to look. If you have any suggestions close to Decatur and want to go, let me know.

Roy,

I am from Beecher IL. I would possibly be interested in panning somewhere near Decatur if anyone knows of a worth while area. The only place that I have heard that there was gold in IL was in the Mazon area. There has to be more than that. I have "practiced" in the creeks near my home- found black sand- no color.

Well, about the same here....I know that it is Glacial gold here in Illinois, So where did the glaciers stop here? I think shelbyville area. Williamsburg hill, south Kaskaskia river maybe? I have a hunch that may have to be a next when it comes to looking. My mining guide also shows a map of the glacial drift. There are a lot of possibilities around macon, moweaqua.
